June was busy.

Mainly because of my freelance work. Two of the key milestones for the project were squeezed into these two months: launching the mobile app, and getting a few sub-sites ready for an important event in July. On top of building everything, I also need to make sure the whole system can handle the surge in traffic during the event.

While busy with all the freelance work, I’m still trying to strike a balance and keep some work-life balance.

June had Father’s Day, my wedding anniversary, and the kids were having their school holidays as well. So yeah, that basically translated into me rarely having much time left for product work.

Freelance Direction

I also lost one of my client maintenance projects this month, which feels like another alarm for me.

Client work is becoming harder to sustain, and I don’t think I can rely on it the same way going forward. I need to move more of my focus towards product work and figure out a more sustainable source of income within this year. Most likely, next year will only get harder.

Hermes AI

On the more interesting side, I discovered Hermes in June and started exploring it.

That eventually became the idea for this month’s Product Weekend: Solo With Agents.

Instead of my usual way of building, I tried a workflow where Hermes handles the planning, Trello keeps track of the work, and Codex handles the implementation.

I also intentionally tested this workflow with an image generation project instead of the usual coding project. I wanted to see whether this kind of agent workflow could work beyond just building software.

Still figuring it out, but I think there’s something interesting here.

I’ll share more about the whole Solo With Agents experiment in my upcoming Product Weekend post.

Now, looking forward to July.

It’s going to be another busy month, but hopefully this is finally the month I can clear the major milestones for my freelance work. This project has been like a stone stuck with me since last year, always sitting somewhere in my mind no matter what else I’m working on.

If everything goes well in July, I can finally clear that stone, take a proper break, and start thinking about what’s next.
