Markdown Web

Markdown Web

Markdown Web is a Chrome Extension that started as a spin-off from ClipSend.

The original idea was pretty simple. I wanted to convert any webpage into Markdown so that I could easily pass the content to ClipSend for follow-up actions.

So I built the first version, which lets you view any webpage in Markdown. The plan was to eventually merge it with ClipSend, but that never happened because ClipSend was already put aside.

Unlike ClipSend, I decided to keep Markdown Web around.

One reason is that it's pretty low maintenance. It's just a Chrome Extension without any backend or server to worry about.

Another reason is that I still think it's useful, especially in the AI era.

Nowadays, AI agents can browse websites and search for information on our behalf. But reading an entire webpage can consume a lot of tokens, especially with unnecessary HTML and other content.

With Markdown Web, the idea is to let agents access a cleaner Markdown version of the page, which could potentially save some tokens along the way.

So yeah, this is one of those small projects that I don't really need to spend much time maintaining, but still find useful enough to keep around.

Markdown Web turns supported webpages into clean Markdown for reading, copying, and AI workflows.

We'll see how it goes.
